Abstract

Musculoskeletal complications resulting from prolonged immobilization represent a major challenge in the care of critically ill patients admitted to intensive care units. In this context, intensive physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the prevention and treatment of these conditions through strategies such as early mobilization, therapeutic exercises, and assistive technologies. This study aimed to analyze the importance of intensive physiotherapy in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal complications in critically ill patients, linking its practice to health information, scientific communication, and the fight against misinformation. This is a literature review with a qualitative approach, which discusses strategies such as early mobilization, therapeutic exercises, and the use of assistive technologies, integrating these elements with the production, organization, and dissemination of scientific information in the health field. The analyzed literature shows that evidence-based physiotherapy interventions significantly contribute to improved clinical outcomes, reduced length of hospital stay, and functional recovery of patients. It is emphasized that access to qualified information and its proper communication among healthcare professionals, patients, and families are determining factors for the effectiveness of care practices. Furthermore, the study highlights that health misinformation can compromise adherence to therapeutic interventions, reinforcing the need for scientific dissemination strategies that promote access to reliable content. It is concluded that the integration between intensive physiotherapy and health information management is essential for improving care quality, and that further studies addressing this interface are necessary.
