PREFACE
Asklepion - Informação em Saúde is a scholarly journal published by the Information
in Science, Technology, and Innovation in Health Research Group at the Brazilian Institute of
Information in Science and Technology (Ibict). The journal was launched in 2021, during the
global COVID-19 pandemic, with the goal of fostering scientific communication between
producers and users of health information.
At that time, the production and dissemination of scientific and technological
information represented an act of democratic resistance against misinformation, disinformation,
and the denial of science. This was particularly significant in relation to COVID-19 vaccination
and treatment.
The year 2026 began with excellent news: Asklepion received its first evaluation in the
CAPES Qualis ranking, earning a B1 classification. This is an outstanding achievement for a
journal developed by a research group, built and maintained entirely through volunteer work
and hosted on a private server.

Five years after the journal's launch, we are now facing new challenges arising from the
increasing diversity and complexity of misinformation. Brazil has experienced a significant
decline in vaccination coverage rates and has not yet fully recovered. At this stage, the journal's
primary focus is to ensure its continuity and long-term sustainability.
One of Asklepion's greatest strengths is its Editorial Board, composed of twenty
professors and researchers from universities and research institutions across Brazil. Together,
they form the core of an extensive collaborative network dedicated to advancing research in the
broad field of Information in Science, Technology, and Innovation in Health.
The scope of Asklepion includes studies and theories of information in health;
knowledge organization and health information management; health information and
communication technologies; telemedicine; information in healthcare organizations;
automation of clinical processes and procedures; health information and innovation; artificial
intelligence in healthcare; mobile health (mHealth) applications; information, health, and
society; and health information policies.
Asklepion operates under a continuous publication model, with submissions accepted
year-round. Once a manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review process and has
been accepted, it undergoes copyediting, production, and publication without waiting for a
scheduled issue. Throughout the past five years, the journal has relied on the dedication of its
